allow me to give context first, though. a lot of these aus are multifandom and are made up of a lot of series and characters that dont really seem like they have much in common or anything to do with each other. this is because my best friend and i find it fun to pick characters from our favorite things and play with them like dolls (while still respecting and valuing the original stories -- that's important to us, too.)

so here's the deal. my favorite character is yagami takayuki from judge eyes, and hers is ex from puyo puyo tetris. this all started with us talking about how we thought they'd be friends were they to ever interact, despite from being from wildly different games with literally nothing connecting them. and we decided to start writing them together in a roleplay way and things sort of spiraled from there and we decided that not only are they the best friends ever, but they are also platonic soulmates and well now find each other in ever universe where that's possible ever (which is essentially every universe except for the untouched source material, essentially).

which is crazy, i know. but listen. we're having a lot of fun and it's entirely harmless and it's a fun way to spur creativity, so neither of us intend on stopping any time soon. we've put those two + their friends and loved ones into dozens of different worlds and stories and come up with lore and backstories and stuff that keep the characters connected to the themes and lore of their original games and it's been really really fun. so!

a lot of these aus heavily involve a lot of personal headcanons regarding gender/pronouns, disabilities, etc. as well, so if i use weird pronouns for a character or talk about a character having a chronic illness that doesn't seem canon, that's why.

list of yagami and ex aus
• reach for the stars. au where yagami is from a tetris universe and met ex as a teenager. follows the plot of the puyo puyo tetris games
• pokemon scarlet/violet au. ex and tak (yagami) as the trainers in pokemon scarvi in an au where both versions of the game happen at once. starts with the plot of the game and follows them as they grow up, leading to a story we're creating for them as adults.
• splatoon au. an au where tak (yagami) is agent 8 from splatoon octo expansion, but with several twists, including the fact that ex, the child of an inkling and an octoling, is stuck in the deepsea metro with him.
• wildermyth au. wildermyth is a fantasy game set up like a ttrpg. you have the ability to customize characters and insert them into stories that shift and change a bit depending on the characters involved. this one sort of started out as a joke where we put yagami, kaito, ex, my oc cain, and……. glamrock freddy…… into a wildermyth run, but then we got really attached to the whole concept.
• gates to infinity au. did you know that the hero and partner in pokemon mystery dungeon are literally just how we write yagami and ex as teenagers and the plot and themes really parallel the story we weaved together for them. it's almost like this game was made for them.
• orphanage au. this follows the same thread as the wildermyth au. after really enjoying those characters in wildermyth, we decided to do an orphanage run in the sims with them raising kids such as ess, tee, my oc cain's kids, gregory, and jun (the kaito files), as well as some… characters that seem entirely disconnected to include more friends in on the fun (like danny and jazz fenton). and then we started making a whole plot for this one too. yeah.

i know none of these look like they make any sense, but we've been having a lot of fun making new stories for these characters by weaving together their original stories and the stories of each thing we insert them into. i intend on linking to pages with more details about each au, like plot and lore explanations and the like. we've but a lot of heart into these! and it's definitely made us better creators and enhanced our friendships :]
